About us
Cheltenham Tutorial College works with students and organisations that are involved in distance or non-traditional learning or home study.
The College's roots stretch back many years. We were founded in 1991, when we took over Pitman Tutorial College's curriculum; Pitman had itself provided courses by distance learning for over 150 years.
Since then we've taught and prepared students for their exams, but also acted as a distance and open learning consultancy, working with various organisations to solve their training needs, developing both materials and tuition, and the administrative and logistical structures that underpin them.
We work with thousands of students each year spread across a wide curriculum of courses, from special interest to post-graduate, both our own and those enrolled to other organisations. We try to be as flexible as possible in how we deliver education and support to them, making the best use of post, phone, fax and email.
We have around fifty tutors. As well as supporting our students, they all work either in traditional college environments, in industry, or as consultants and are spread around the UK. Appropriate, good-quality support is essential to our students as they may be separated from us by tens, hundreds or even thousands of miles – many of our students live a long way from the British Isles.
We also try to make sure that we're properly accredited, by appropriate bodies like ODLQC, BILD and ABCC. We are also recommended by professional examining bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, and Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators as suppliers of tuition for their qualifications.
